Movie Night in the Park Draws 400 for “The Sandlot” Under the StarsIt was a perfect evening for community and nostalgia as more than 400 residents gathered for Rotary’s Movie Night in the Park to enjoy the beloved classic The Sandlot under the stars. Families and friends spread out on the grass, sharing laughter, snacks, and a sense of togetherness that truly captured the spirit of Castro Valley.
The Castro Valley Rotary Club hosted the free event, serving complimentary popcorn and welcoming attendees with warm smiles. Rotary President Misti Short opened the evening by thanking the community for its ongoing support and participation in local service projects.
“The turnout tonight reminds us just how special this community is,” Misti said. “It’s wonderful to see neighbors coming together to laugh, relax, and celebrate what makes Castro Valley such a great place to live.”
Rotary extended heartfelt appreciation to the many community partners who helped make the evening possible: Castro Valley Library, Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan), Castro Valley Unified School District (CVUSD), 3 Crosses Church, ProtoData, TMC Production, Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (H.A.R.D.), and the Castro Valley Historical Museum.
With perfect weather, a family-favorite movie, and the sound of laughter echoing across the park, the event was a shining example of Rotary’s mission of Service Above Self — bringing the community together through meaningful, joyful experiences.
