Debra Bakerjian is a clinical professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. Previously, Bakerjian was a Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing Postdoctoral Fellow with specialties in health policy and system change.

Bakerjian’s research aims to improve the quality of care for aging populations. Her research focuses on patient safety and quality improvement practices in long-term care, particularly nursing homes; and interprofessional education and collaborative practice in primary care. One area of interest is the roles of nurse practitioners and physician assistants as members of the interprofessional team. She is currently the principal investigator for a study of the impact of Music and Memory on older adults with dementia in nursing homes and for a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)-funded project on interprofessional education and collaborative practice in primary care.
