Empowering Multilingual Learners

This presentation will highlight our commitment to empowering Multilingual Learners by fostering language development, academic achievement, and cultural pride. We will share how we use strategies to build language skills, promote equity, and foster belonging—while inviting families and community partners to join us in creating pathways for every student to reach their highest potential.
Doris De La Torre is the Director of Multilingual Services in CVUSD and a Castro Valley Schools alumna who experienced being a Multilingual Learner herself. With 23 years in the district, she has served as a second grade teacher, Response to Intervention Specialist, Multilingual Learner Coach at Castro Valley Elementary, Assistant Principal at Canyon, and Principal of Vannoy. Today, she supports Multilingual Learners districtwide, dedicated to helping students thrive, supporting staff, and fostering family engagement in education.
