During its lunch meeting on November 4, the Rotary Club of Castro Valley has awarded a $3,000 Community Grant to Canyon Middle School to support the enhancement of its Wellness Kitchen, a key component of the school’s comprehensive wellness program.
The Wellness Kitchen provides students with hands-on opportunities to learn about nutrition, cooking, and healthy living while building life skills that extend beyond the classroom. The Rotary grant funds durable equipment and long-lasting assets that will strengthen Canyon’s wellness initiatives for years to come.
“Student wellness in middle school goes beyond just physical health,” said Misti Short, President of the Rotary Club of Castro Valley. “It encompasses a whole-child approach that supports their social, emotional, and physical well-being. This project truly reflects Rotary’s mission of Service Above Self by investing in the health and future of our youth.”
The Rotary Club of Castro Valley has a long-standing tradition of supporting local schools through grants, student recognition programs, and youth development initiatives such as Student of the Month and the Rotary Speech Contest. The club continues to prioritize education and wellness programs that empower young people to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
