President Dr. Heidi brought down the gavel at Don Jose’s in Castro Valley, and Margie Ramos was asked to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Dr. Heidi also let us know that today is National Chocolate Custard Day and National Hoagie Day!

An Elementary School Teacher had twenty-six students in her class. She presented each child in her classroom the 1st half of a well-known proverb and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb. It's hard to believe these were actually done by first graders. Their insight may surprise you. ANNOUNCEMENTS        (*NEW OR MODIFIED)

Sue McKinney shared what is going on with Interact and a container full of 2200 soccer balls being shipped to Vietnam this summer . . . these balls are indestructible and reinflate themselves (really!) . . . she auctioned off one of the balls for the project and ended up having three buyers at $40 each (Bill Nott, Dr. Heidi and Bruce Johnson) . . . 

May 11 - We will be joining Hayward Rotary for lunch at 12 noon at the Masonic Hall (next to Buffalo Bills on B Street in Hayward!
May 12--- We are dark.  No CV lunch meeting.  (Go to Hayward Rotary on May 11!)
May 21--- Rotary U.  Milpitis Indian Center, 5-9 pm  A district event, good for all, but needed for Red badgers (Bonnie will do sign up sheet) - many different sessions -  CV Rotary will pay for your dinner if you go, you will pay the Club back if you do not show up!)

REPEAT - Alan West announced that we need a new member of the Endowment Board, so that selections can be made for scholarships. Bill Nott was nominated and unanimously voted to be the new member of the Endowment Board.

MAY 9 - Rowell Ranch Rodeo Parade - Randy Vanderbilt asked for help with the signs on Wednesday (May 6) at 3pm at the Castro Valley Chamber of Commerce Office (behind Rowell’s Saddlery) and on Saturday morning at 6:30am to put out the barricades . . . meet at the Adobe Center . . . “Many Hands Make for Light Work” ... continue to encourage people to attend the parade . . . details at www.rowellranchrotaryparade.com . . .

LOOKING FOR THE MOLAR WITH THE GOLD GLITTER FILLING DONE “JUST FOR US” BY DR. HEIDI, and with $48 and 16 teeth in the bag, Bill Mulgrew’s ticket was drawn and he reached in and . . . DID NOT pull a “Ray Wallace” and won $5 as he did NOT pull an infected tooth!
