PROGRAM - Today’s program was introduced by Randy Vanderbilt: Alana and Sarah from the SonRise Equestrian Foundation.  SonRise Equestrian Foundation is an annual participant in the Rowell Ranch Rodeo Parade and is a tremendous, non-profit organization guided by Christian-based values that makes a positive difference for youth living with social, emotional, or physical  challenges, including terminal illness. Participating children develop confidence, integrity, and responsibility through mentoring and peer relationships centered around the care and enjoyment of horses.

Alana and Sarah shared a wonderful video starring the children who benefit from the ministry of SonRise Equestrian with testimonies by their parents.  They also shared a power point that was very informative.  With eight trained horses and fifty-five active volunteers (total of seventy-five volunteers), Sonrise Equestrian Foundation is taking great care of those children (aged 6-18) entrusted to them by their parents.

For instance, we learned about Therapeutic Riding.  Therapeutic riding uses equine-assisted activities for the purpose of contributing positively to cognitive, physical, emotional and social well-being of people with disabilities. Because horseback riding rhythmically moves the rider's body in a manner similar to a human gait, riders with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance and muscle strength.

All are invited to their main fundraiser at the Round Hill Country Club in Alamo on September 27, 2014 entitled Wine and Equine “Champions.”
Alana and Sarah listed four ways to assist the Sonrise Equestrian Foundation: Prayer and Financial Support; Volunteer; Tell Your Friends; Refer Others; and Attend their upcoming fundraiser onSeptember 27, 2014.
More information about the Sonrise Equestrian Foundation is available at http://www.sonrisekids.org . . .

Thanks to both Alana and Sarah – tremendous program!
