Mayor Libby Shaaf - What's Up in Oakland?

Ms. Shaaf is a lawyer and began her career with the law firm Reed Smith LLP. She became program director for the Marcus A. Foster Educational Institute and ran a volunteer program for Oakland USD. She served as a legislative aide to president of the Oakland City Council and as a special assistant to Mayor Jerry Brown. She was also the Director of Public Affairs for the Port of Oakland and an economic policy advisor for the City Council. In 2010, she was elected to the City Council. In 2014, she was elected Mayor of Oakland. She has a BA in political science from Rollins College and a JD from Loyola Law School.
