Consumer Protection - Greg Boller
Alameda County Assistant District Attorney
Greg Boller, Assistant District Attorney for Alameda County, specializes in consumer protection cases.  Additionally, Greg has advocated for disadvantaged children and families in truancy prevention, domestic violence, and special victim cases.  He has 20 years of criminal justice experience and knowledge of mental health, substance abuse, and child welfare issues. 
 
In his presentation, Greg described a number of the DA’s successful settlements that resulted in businesses ceasing improper actions and brought money to the county and relief to the consumers...The recovered funds are invested in a trust fund that supports future investigations to protect the people in Alameda County.

On March 22, President Dwight Perry and Membership Chair Ceta Dochterman inducted two new members Elizabeth Crocker, sponsored by Gary Bosley, and Robert Hoffman, sponsored by Craig Semmelmeyer.  Please take the time to introduce yourself to Elizabeth and Robert and learn about their backgrounds.  Every member is encouraged to recruit a new member to the Club.

DEI Project
Past President Gary Howard described a presentation that he, Roland Williams, and other made at a meeting that District Governor-Elect Savita Vaidhyanathan held on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion with the Presidents-Elect in District 5170.  Read RI's statement on DEI here.  Watch the video to learn more.
 
Demotion
Past President Gary Howard announced a meeting of all Past Presidents on March 29 at 6:00-7:00 pm via Zoom to begin planning for the demotion of President Dwight Perry, which is tentatively set for June 28
 
Chili Cook-off and Rodeo Parade
May 13 & May 14
President Dwight Perry reminded everyone that these events need the active participation of every member from working the events to encouraging others to participate, and very importantly, recruiting sponsors.  Sponsors are the lifeblood of these events.  Every member should have received a sponsorship form by email. 
 
Castro Valley Sports Foundation (CVSF)
CVSF is holding its Hall of Fame Awards Banquet on April 10.  Castro Valley Rotarian Jim Phillips will be inducted into the CVSF Hall of Fame. Tickets are available here.
 
Chanticleers
President Dwight noted that the Chanticleers Theater is back in business with The Little Shop of Horrors.  Information and tickets are available here.
 
District 5170 conference.
The District 5170 Conference is scheduled for April 22-24 at Blackhawk Musuem and the San Ramon Marriott.  More information/registration is available here.
 
Castro Valley 14th Annual Car ShowCastro Valley Car Show
The Castro Valley Car Show is scheduled for June 18.  Registration opened on March 15 and 85 registrations have already been received.  More information is available here.  Watch for details on how to volunteer.
 
Castro Valley/Eden Area Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber President Julie Sumiki and Aaron Lewis announced a mixer at the Marketplace on March 23, 5:30-7:30.  Raffle tickets are available. Aaron also noted a joint Chamber-Rotary mixer at Dig Deep Farms on April 28 at 5:30-7:30 pm.  Watch for details.
