Club Assembly Discussion:
Castro Valley Rotary Community Foundation -
Jim Phillips
Member Jim Phillips outlined a potential new initiative for the Club, establing the Castro Valley Rotary Community Foundation, which would support various projects in the community. Several excellent foundations currently provide scholarships for graduating students and support the arts, education, and sports; however, no organization in Castro Valley focuses on the larger community. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that Castro Valley is not a city and lacks a Public Works Department. The new foundation would help to fill that gap. The Castro Valley Rotary Community Foundation would be separate 501(c)3
organization with its own Governing Board. Club members demonstrated considerable enthusiasm for the concept.

Please click here to watch Jim's presentation and the Club's discussion of the proposal.  Jim will be scheduled for a future report to the Club with specific plans for the new foundation.  In the meantime, please review the proposal and share with Jim Phillips and Gary Howard any concerns or questions that you may have.
