Post-Polio Health
Elizabeth Crocker, RN MHA MSc
Castro Valley Rotarian Elizabeth Crocker share her personal experience as a child with polio and its impact on family and friends.  In her presentation, Elizabeth began by explaining the Three Stains of Poliomyelitis and Proportion Case and then traced the history of the Salk and Sabin vaccines before focusing on the late effects of polio on survivors as well as family and friends.

Polio Plus Campaign
President Dwight reminded members that the vaccine has saved the lives of more than 20 million children.  We are on the road to the elimination of polio.  Don't forget your donation to TRF.
 
Chili Cook-off & Rodeo Parade (May 13 & May 14)
The next Planning Meeting is April 12 at 5:30 pm.  Volunteers are still needed for both events.  Volunteer signup forms have been emailed to all members.  Family and friends are also invited to volunteer. Chili cookers and Parade entries are still needed as well as sponsorships.  Contract Lytrel Carter (Rodeo Parade) and Randy Vanderbilt (Chili Cook-off) for more information.  President Dwight thanked Craig Semmelmeyer for display at the Castro Valley Marketplace and the Castro Valley Eden Area Chamber of Commerce for promoting these events.
 
 
Castro Valley Car Show
President Dwight announced that registration for the Castro Valley Car Show scheduled for June 18th opened on March 15.  There are already 150 entries.
 
Castro Valley Eden Area Chamber of Commerce Mixer
Aaron Lewis announced that the Club is co-sponsoring the Mixer with the Chamber at Dig Deep Farms on April 20 (5:30-7:30 pm). Rotary will be selling wine at the event. More details here.
Polio Plus
President Dwight reminded everyone that the Polio Plus campaign takes place in April and May. He asked each member to donate $50 or more to the campaign. Make checks payable to TRF (The Rotary Foundation).
