Juliana Schirmer, Chief Administrator Officer Regional Parks Foundation 
Juliana Schirmer, Chief Administrative Office of the Regional Parks Foundation, provided an overview of the Foundation’s work to support the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) through fundraising to provide Universal Access, Environmental Stewardship, Educational and Recreational Programs, and the Acquisition of Parklands.  After an introduction by Rotarian and EBRPD Police Department Captain Lance Brede, Juliana divided her presentation into five segments:
  • Introduction to the East Bay Regional Park District
  • Mission of the Region Parks Foundation
  • Five Core Pillars
  • Financial Health
  • Staff and Board
Juliana began with a map of the East Bay Regional Park District that was founded in 1934 and includes 125,00 acres of parkland with 73 parks and 1,250 miles of trails.  The Regional Parks Foundation is a 501(C)3 with a mission to preserve and protect parkland while making it accessible for exercise and recreation.   She then described in detail each of the Five Core Pillars:
  • Universal Access
  • Youth Development
  • Community Engagement
  • Environmental Stewardship
  • Health, Wellness, and Safety

California Historical Radio Society (CHRS)
Bay Area Radio Museum and Hall of Fame
The Bay Area Radio Museum and Hall of Fame, a program of the California Historical Radio Society (CHRS), is an online collection of audio recordings, documents, ephemera and photographic images pertaining to the history and development of radio broadcasting in the San Francisco Bay Area. 
 
Steve Kaufman from the Museum provided a video tour of the Museum during his six-minute presentation and answered questions. 
Castro Valley High School Interact Club Visits
The leadership of the Interact Club at Castro Valley High School attended the meeting to share what the Club has been doing and what it plans to do in the coming year.  Rotarian Bruce Johnson posed a series of questions to which the students responded.  Click here to read more about the presentation and click on the link below to watch the presentation.  The Rotary Club of Castro Valley sponsors Interact Clubs at Castro Valley HS, Redwood Christian HS, and Canyon MS.

Carol Bigelow receives Blue Badge
Anyone who has attended an in-person meeting pre- or post-pandemic has been greeted by and handed a badge by Carol Bigelow.  Carol recently completed all the requirements for her Blue Badge, which President Dwight Perry presented at lunch.
Andi Hangea welcomed as newest member
Membership Chair Ceta Dochterman welcomed Andi Hangea as the new Red Badge member.  Andi has been handling the technology behind the hybrid meetings since July.  Please take a moment to introduce yourself to Andi.
