Introduction - Roy PeekOther than some time in Missouri, courtesy of the Army National Guard, Roy Peek has lived in the East Bay his entire life. His family came to Hayward (Mt Eden) in the 1870's and to Castro Valley (Crow Canyon) about the same time. He is a 4th generation Hayward native and a 5th generation California native. Roy graduated from UC Berkeley in 1970 with a degree in mechanical engineering, and he worked for manufacturing companies his entire career. Roy has spent some time in the consumer products and pharmaceutical areas but most of his work was for biotechnology companies. Much of that was for Applied Biosystems who built the equipment for the Human Genome Project in the 90's, and also commercialized DNA fingerprinting. Roy lives in Castro Valley in what was his parent's house, on land that has been in the family since the 1920's.
