Meeting Highlights - August 30, 2016
 
Once again, the weekly lunch meeting was very busy showcasing the many aspects of Rotary including
  • Presenting new member Tammy Landmesser with her Red Badge.
  • Hearing from Dan Termini, Area Director for Fast-Teks Pro, regarding current trends in technology.
  • Welcoming 35 university students from Fukuda, Japan.
 
New Red Badge Member
President Carol welcomed Tammy Landmesser as the newest member of the Rotary Club of Castro Valley and challenged her to bring in a new member in the next 90 days.  Tammy is the wife of member Charlie Landmesser.  Tammy was presented her Red Badge and a Membership Certificate by President Carol.
 
Speaker:  Dan Termini
Speaker Coordinator Gary Bosley introduced Dan Termini, Area Director for Fast-Teks Pro.  Dan spoke on Current Trends in Computer Services” in our area.  He discussed what he sees in the field regarding Spyware, Malware, and viruses, including Ransomware. In addition, Dan referred to other computer developments such as Windows 10.  Dan is a member of Castro Valley Eden Area Chamber of Commerce.
 
Special Guests from Japan
Thirty-five (35) students from the city of Fukuda, Japan who are attending California State University, East Bay in the American Language Program, under the direction of Rotarian Ray Wallace and EJ Howang Tronstad, were welcomed by President Carol.  These students from the Fukuda Institute of Technology made a presentation about Fukuda.  Different groups of students talked about the food business, industry, Fukuda’s night time garbage collection, culture and geography.  It was a very informative presentation.
 
In the end, President Carol thanked the students and asked them to consider joining a Rotary Club in their region.  A group picture with the students and Rotary members ended this pleasant and interesting experience for all.
