Jeff Shields has been with SSJID since 2004 and has over 36 years of public agency and private sector executive management experience. He was appointed as SSJID’s General Manager in 2007, after serving as the District’s Utility Systems Director.  He will be retiring from SSJID later this year.  Shields’ history includes 10 years as general manager of Emerald PUD, an electric utility in Oregon, and seven years as general manager of Trinity PUD in Northern California. He is credited with leading several agencies into the retail power business in order to reduce electricity costs for consumers and key industries.  Jeff also has experience in land use planning and environmental compliance consulting, providing expert witness services by testifying before state and federal regulatory and governing authorities, securing transmission for renewable energy projects and managing all aspects of utilities.
